Probably my favorite blog on the Internet is written by Marc Barnes. He's witty, brilliant, enchanting, and his prose really sings.
ReplyDeleteHe reminds me of a blend between G.K. Chesterton and Flannery O'Conner.
And. He's. Only. 18.

I agree. He is good.
ReplyDeleteCale Clark has a great blog at http://www.thefaithexplained.com/. Making Catholic teachings accessible and highlighting their relevance.
ReplyDeleteGreat list, by the way!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I would just add Bad Catholic to it.
ReplyDeleteLeila Miller's Little Catholic Bubble - littlecatholicbubble.blogspot.com. She's able to explain Catholic teachings and issues so clearly and simply, and the combox discussions are often fascinating and intense.
ReplyDeleteI echo the previous comments: Bad Catholic all the way. He's my fave.
ReplyDeleteOh well. Maybe I was 21st...
ReplyDeleteBut that is still a good list.
haha larry!
ReplyDeletegood list- we are blessed with some great resources
Pertinacious Papist... which would be good even if it didn't boast that name. Calls a spade a spade while managing to stay charitable, is well-written and theologically informed, and speaks circumspectly instead of incessantly.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the list.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know the link to Ignatius Insight Scoop(John Carlson) takes you to the In the Light of the Law site.
It is a good list ... even absent LarryD, the Crescat and my friend Stacy Trasancos. And Marc Barnes makes me envious.
ReplyDeleteThanks, man!! This is the best Catholic post of 2012.
ReplyDeleteThose are all my favorites too! I would just include "Word on Fire" blog by Fr. Robert Barron.
ReplyDeleteMy blog "Catholic Frontier~Promise of the New Evangelization" didn't make it, but maybe next year. :>
I'm so thankful for all the great Catholic bloggers! As a 'coming home Catholic', I'm learning so much and am so encouraged and hopeful for the future of the Church!
Oh, and don't forget Steve Gershom at www.stevegershom.com --
ReplyDelete"Catholic, Gay, and Feeling Fine."
Holy Souls Hermitage, blog of Fr George David Byers, former well beloved seminary prof at the Josephinum in Rome then chaplain to English language pilgrims in Lourdes, now a hermit perched on an inaccessible mountain in North Carolina, praying and offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass (EF usually), especially for the holiness of bishops and priests, and of course for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. He is also privately tutoring in theology, seminarian Phillip Gerard Johnson who is also a blogger, who has an inoperable brain tumor. One gets the impression Fr Byers was an excellent and beloved seminary teacher and his opting for hermit life was probably controversial with some... but as he says, "we need HOLY priests." That is the whole point.
ReplyDeleteHis blog preaches Christ Crucified front and center, and is also the blog that makes me the happiest, a joyful and fascinating blog.
Fr George's theologically rich spiritual reflections have great vividness and impact, and we also get to share all the earthy details of being a hermit on a mountain with hoarfrost, spiders, preying mantises and laying hens, in all weather, in an only half-finished self-built hermitage with a cast iron stove and now the Blessed Sacrament reserved in the tabernacle (with permission of the Bishop).

ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention, though. Got some heavy hitters here!
It helps to identify yourself correctly--thanks for the mention comes from me, Susan, aka the Ironic Catholic....(and my family home page is Gracewatch)
ReplyDeletewww.Heavenwards.org. Reverend Stanislao Esposito's preaching cannot be eclipsed.
ReplyDeleteI would add Msgr. Pope of the Archdiocese of Washington. I've more than once used his stuff for my RCIA class.
ReplyDeleteDailywalk Heavenwards, the blog on the Website: Heavenwards.org is preaching: "to live the TRUTH in love" (Eph.4:15) as espoused by Reverend Esposito.
ReplyDeleteGotta say, I LOVE Creative Minority Report, and Simcha Fisher... In a world that is intense and where depressing painful news prevails, they make us LAUGH!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! Definately Father George on the mountaintop deserves a nod and just for some self promotion - mine! www.postabortionwalk.blogspot.com - a journey of hope and healing.
