Tip o' the hat to New Advent.
I remember seeing the same thing 20 years ago on the Polo Grounds, with grackles as far as the eye could see moving and undulating across the ground like great black screaming waves. Scary and beautiful. I don't know that I've ever seen as large a mass of animals before or since.
