ReplyDeleteI know it's not quite the same, but his excellency Bishop Anthony Basil Taylor of Little Rock regularly posts to Facebook (and he is believed to be the first bishop on Facebook).
ReplyDeleteArchbishops Timothy Dolan, Charles Chaput, and Raymond Burke all have facebook pages also. Whether they themselves do the posting, I can't say.
ReplyDeleteLittle Rock Bishop Anthony Basil Taylor is on Facebook and often posts homilies as "Notes"
ReplyDeleteBishop Earl Boyea of Lansing, Michigan, has a facebook page
ReplyDeleteGlad you put together this list--well worth bookmarking. However, you are right that there is much to be desired on the design front for most Church-related web sites in official capacity. It also must be said that having a Twitter/FB account and using them well are two different things.
ReplyDeleteWe need more seminars in social media best practices. I thought I was pretty savvy on this front, but started attending seminars on it, and found I still had things to learn. Search "Goal Busters" and the book "No Bullsh*t Social Media"--good places to start. Communications offices should be helping their Evangelization offices to hold talks/ seminars on this kind of stuff.

ReplyDeleteA tiny correction: Bishop Lori is now Archbishop Lori of Baltimore.
ReplyDeleteFr. S - I took him off, because he won't be blogging at the current site anymore anyway, so if he starts one in Baltimore, I can add him later.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the updates everyone!
Fr. Anthony - The page for Bishop Boyea states that he doesn't post there, it is run by the Communications dept.
ReplyDeleteYou seem to have missed Bishop Alexander Sample of the Diocese of Marquette, Michigan. He tweets and has a Facebook page.
ReplyDeleteI know this was focussed on the U.S.A., but two bishops from the north have been personally blogging for a while:
ReplyDeleteOttawa's Abp Terrence Predergast, S.J.: http://archbishopterry.blogspot.ca/
and
Montreal auxiliary, Bishop Thomas Dowd - the youngest bishop in Canada and second youngest in the world: http://bishopdowd.net/blog
FYI - Raymond Burke is now a Cardinal.
ReplyDeleteBishop Michael F. Burbidge, Diocese of Raleigh, NC is on Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/BishopBurbidge Thanks for compiling the list!
ReplyDeleteIt would appear that Bp. Farrell has moved to a new blog: http://bishopkevinfarrell.org/blog/
ReplyDeleteThe old one at Blogspot has been taken over by some nonsense.
Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann has a Facebook Page
