I've known girls who were invited to a silent retreat by a friend, only to find upon arrival that it was a Regnum Christi event, complete with readings from Fr. Maciel at meals.

Another time, a friend invited a few of my roommates to watch "a video about John Paul II". It contained about three minutes about John Paul and then proceded for the rest of the tape to extoll the virtues of the Legionaries and their founder.

So I just wonder, if in the future things remain substantially the same...will they entice people to join without them knowing about all of this?

None of the behavior I recount would have bothered anybody if it was forthright. "Come to this RC retreat" or "Watch this LC video" wouldn't have turned anybody off. It's the sneakiness that bothers us.

There are reports of this sort of thing in other parts of the country, even leading some bishops to ban the movement in their dioceses.

I really hope things CHANGE now. Apostolates like this can do a lot of good. We all need to be to greater personal holiness (and to respond to that call).stceolfrithtxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04369240659677103435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5094967570243723764.post-24140103409945093062009-02-10T23:28:00.000-06:002009-02-10T23:28:00.000-06:00Regarding Fr. I'm glad to see that there is a culture of accountability being engendered/demanded.

I notice that he called on the RC laypeople to read different Legionary priests' work for spiritual nourishment and even to turn to other Catholic sources outside of Regnum Christi spirituality for comfort.stceolfrithtxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04369240659677103435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5094967570243723764.post-54319103258922338722009-02-10T15:05:00.000-06:002009-02-10T15:05:00.000-06:00Complete rip-off. Truly shameful.

The kids that go to public schools have a better shot at keeping their faith, statistically speaking.Marcelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18121158394600137195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5094967570243723764.post-44945451498309107962009-02-10T12:30:00.000-06:002009-02-10T12:30:00.000-06:00How can one argue that BC imposes on its students ...How can one argue that BC imposes on its students when they pay $25,000 a year to get in?matthew archboldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11545661060388202784noreply@blogger.com
