Second it changes cervical mucus so the sperm can't reach the egg. Third it does what I described above. You left out too much, as does the article you cited.
Just read the scientific inserts of your prescription. They have it in there.

http://www.prolifephysicians.org/abortifacient.htmMarcelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18121158394600137195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5094967570243723764.post-87892473576975857522011-07-28T09:46:11.402-05:002011-07-28T09:46:11.402-05:00I'm guessing maybe my last comment got thrown ...I'm guessing maybe my last comment got thrown out because I was too sarcastic or something that I would like to reiterate that the birth control pill is NOT an abortifacient.

The mix of hormones mimics an already pregnant body, preventing ovulation. There is no fertilized egg to get 'flushed' from the woman's body, because there is no egg to fertilize.

http://health.howstuffworks.com/sexual-health/contraception/birth-control-pill2.htmAndrea L. Even though she was not using the drug to prevent pregnancy, it still demonstrates the dangerous aspect of the drug.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5094967570243723764.post-77587598766533202172011-07-26T20:37:30.255-05:002011-07-26T20:37:30.255-05:00My favorite stat from the Guttmacher Institute, Pl...My favorite stat from the Guttmacher Institute, Planned Parenthood's "research" arm, is that 90+% of Catholic women have used contraception at some point in their lives. Well, guess what? The American OB/Gyns treat everything from menstrual cramping to dysfunctional bleeding with OCPs, so NO WONDER on that stat! There is virtually NO discussion and NO consistent alternative offered by mainstream American OB/Gyns in my experience.Laurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08128307573411627111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5094967570243723764.post-84344099989843897892011-07-26T19:18:04.251-05:002011-07-26T19:18:04.251-05:00Let me preface this by saying that I agree with th...Let me preface this by saying that I agree with the majority of this. I think the comments about side effects (especially cancer) are a little misleading.

A positive, unambiguous correlation between hormonal contraceptives and cancer has not been proven (to my knowledge). The page you link to actually says as much! In fact, it actually decreases the risk of certain kinds of cancer, like ovarian cancer. For someone like me with an established family history, that's a rather attractive side effect. (Worth noting: the decrease in risk is thought to be because it increases the amount of time a woman is anovulatory... the same effect, and decrease in risk, can be achieved by having children!)

While hormonal birth control does have side effects, some of them quite serious, it also can and does address some equally serious health problems.

I do realize that the majority of people using birth control are likely not using it for non-contraceptive reasons. I also understand that the danger, and likely the motivation, behind free birth control for all has very little to do with legitimate health concerns and a lot to do with rapidly disintegrating morality, and I'm absolutely not trying to excuse that. I did want to correct the bit about cancer, though. The Smart Onehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15906418420747738077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5094967570243723764.post-39215835226720109792011-07-26T17:59:10.808-05:002011-07-26T17:59:10.808-05:00Wait. We don't offer free vitamins, mammograms, dental care, antibiotics, chemo, prostate exams, or vaccinations to women or men, but we're supposed to make sure everyone has the same free access to medication which keeps us from being responsible with our bodies...?
