I never thought I would say this, but I agree with Ashton Kutcher.
This is a great speech. My only issue is with the reaction of part of the audience, who really isn't listening.
Similar to the advice my dad gave me. This guy clearly subscribes to dads newsletter, but omits the swearing. Seriously though...I think the hippies turned yuppies social reengineering experiment has gone so horribly wrong that even the advocacy and deceptions of r mainstream media, government and consumerism cannot mask the fact that this culture has so miserably failed the youth, that even this desperate attempt to get through was a last ditch attempt at something positive.
I think that the distorted view of sex/sexiness that Ashton seemed to oppose in point two is in fact fundamentally grounded in the distorted view of freedom which he was promoting in point three (which was very much along the lines of the concept of freedom expressed by the SCOTUS in PP vs. Casey). I wouldn't expect him to realize this, but among Catholics it would seem rather important to point this out, as opposed to giving a blanket approval.
I think you are looking for something that may not be there. He has a bit of the "set your mind to it and achieve anything", but he is basically saying that it is our choice on how we live our lives. That is true.

Perhaps something will sink in with those that heard it, hopefully something positive. I liked his sharing on how he has worked and apparently always had his next job lined up before he left his current job. You gotta work to make things happen.
He makes some good points in his speech on the meaning of life, truth and happiness. For me a big negative was the self-centeredness of it all.

Defining your own concept of existence, meaning, universe, and live is not the same thing as a choice in living your life in a certain manner.
