Sisters on Oprah

I have to admit, this is the first time I have watched Oprah.  I was impressed with how she treated the religious Sisters on her show, that I wrote about on Monday.  She was respectful and let them have a voice.  As is the case with most people, Oprah was very ignorant about the life of a Nun.  But, she now knows a lot more about them than she did before.  The sisters smashed some myths about religious life and were able to be a positive voice in a culture that needs to hear it.

This is exactly the kind of engagement the Church needs to have with our world.  Don't be offensive.  Don't be pushy.  Just preach the truth in love and kindness, it is attractive enough to win the hearts of others. It was much more positive and uplifting than just "they gave up sex and careers to be nuns" storyline they used to promo the show.
