This creates a stress on every existing Church structure which now needs to grow to meet demand. The Austin diocese has been planning for this growth for many years now with strong pastoral planning, issuing bonds for revenue, a very successful capital campaign, etc. Yet, we still aren't able to keep up.
Other dioceses, esp. Dallas, are behind the curve and while they are working hard to improve and grow it will be much harder. Every large metropolitan area in Texas needs new parishes, more priests, more staff, better social services, etc.
Pray for the Catholic Church in Texas. Growth is a good problem to have, but an issue nonetheless.
