New Priests - Class of 2009

The USCCB has a "class of 2009" page up that gives details about the new priests for 2009 from around the country. Included in this front page are short tidbits on the wide range of priests that features men from different orders and dioceses.

Three priests from the Diocese of Austin are featured, including one of our Aggies, (soon to be) Fr. Will Straten as well as Fr. Jonathan Raia, who was assigned to St. Mary's this past year.

There is also some interesting stats included in the data released, including:
  • Ordinands have been active in parish ministries, with between about half and three-quarters indicating they served as an altar server, lector, and/or Eucharistic minister.
  • About two-thirds of ordinands report having full-time work experience before entering the seminary, most often in education.
God Bless our new priests and those about to be ordained.
