I know most people think the LC should be responding more and with greater detail about the recent news concerning Fr. Maciel. However, these people do not understand the greatest charism of the Legion, and that is charity. True charity doesn't mean just loving others as Christ loved us, it means not speaking poorly of others, and not being judgemental. We fully realize Fr. Maciel has made grave errors, that deeply wound not just the LC, but the entire Catholic Church. And we will surely answer for them for years to come. I know Fr. Alvaro is doing the best he can to handle the situation. What would you do if you were in his shoes? Nobody could possibly be prepared to deal with something like this.
As I told someone in email. I don't necessarily agree with Ed Peters conclusions. I posted them to start others thinking.
