I think, overall, he was the best ever. He could play anything. I think his version of "Voodoo Chile" is better than Jimi's. The solo on "Texas Flood" from the "Live at the El Mocambo" concert is one of the best I've ever seen.
If I could only have one CD to listen to for the rest of my life, it would be "The Sky is Crying". I think his version of "Little Wing" is the best instrumental blues/rock song ever.
Good question. I haven't thought it out. But, I think that my top four includes Mark Knopfler (from Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page. Some other favorites include George Thorogood, Lenny Kravitz, Carlos Santana, Muddy Waters, BB King, Alex Lifeson, Kirk Hammett, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, and The Edge.
