The Catholic Bloggers are going nuts over the Anti-Catholic nature of the new movie, The Golden Compass. This is based on a children's book and has some very disturbing issues with the Church.
I am not familiar with the books, and I don't remember anything bad from the trailers. I'm disappointed, but not surprised. Even if the movie cut out many of the anti-Catholic elements, it will promote the books.
But sometimes I think passing comments or themes in movies are worse, because they do not get the attention.
I remember from the children's movie "Ed" (about a chimp who plays baseball) where an 11-year girl says "Are you gay? It's okay if you are."
Don't forget how some of the evil characters in Star Wars Episode One (I don't remember what they were called) beared a striking resemblance to Catholic Bishops.
